At The Book Club, every class starts with a story- then transforms into an immersive experience designed to grow comprehension, vocabulary, creativity, and connection. From babies to big kids, our literacy-based enrichment programs in West Hartford, CT give children a joyful way to learn, play, and make meaning from the world around them.
LIT LAB
Stories spark curiosity, then science brings them to life. Kids slow down to notice key words, decode new vocabulary, and use context clues as they make predictions and explain results. This modality builds decoding, vocabulary, and comprehension by teaching children how to solve unfamiliar words and ideas.
STORYBOOK STUDIO
Books inspire art, and art deepens understanding of words. Children retell stories, label their work, and revisit key vocabulary from the text. Storybook Studio strengthens word recognition, vocabulary development, and oral language, helping words stick long after the story ends.
YOGA TALES
Stories guide movement while kids listen closely to every word. Repeated phrases and story language are echoed through poses and cues, helping children track print and meaning together. This modality supports fluency, word recognition, and listening comprehension in a calm, focused way.

From early-literacy foundations to after-school support, from family gatherings to imaginative camps, these offerings add extra joy, structure, and magic to your child’s literacy journey. Below are the additional programs families can enjoy- each designed to enrich learning, nurture confidence, and bring stories to life in new and meaningful ways.
K PREP CLUB
Ages 3-5
K Prep Club is a series of back-to-back drop-off class blocks designed to help preschoolers build the skills and confidence they need for a strong start in kindergarten. Families can choose one block or multiple consecutive blocks, creating a longer, more immersive experience. Each session includes a playful warm-up, a Word of the Day, engaging read-alouds, and hands-on activities that support early literacy, number sense, fine motor skills, and social-emotional readiness. Led by certified teachers with degrees in traditional and special education, K Prep Club blends school readiness with joyful discovery in a supportive, kindergarten-like setting.
Children must be fully potty trained to attend.

Ages 0-1
Books and Babies is a unique mommy-and-baby class that blends early literacy foundations with meaningful connection for moms. Each session introduces songs, rhymes, and read-alouds that support babies’ vocabulary growth, phonological skills, and future reading success using strategies grounded in research. At the same time, moms have the chance to connect, share best practices, and learn practical tips and tricks from both educators and visiting experts. Beyond supporting babies’ language development, Books and Babies is about building friendship, confidence, and community; a space where moms feel supported, babies thrive, and the love of reading begins together. Led by certified teachers with degrees in education, this class gives families tools and encouragement that last long after storytime ends.
CHAPTER CHASERS
Ages 8-12
Chapter Chasers is a dynamic chapter book club that turns reading into an adventure. On the first day, students enjoy a book tasting, sampling three different titles alongside themed snacks before voting on the book they’ll read together over the next six weeks. Each week, children read at home and return to class ready to explore important vocabulary, comprehension questions, and rich discussions that strengthen their understanding. Every session also features a high-energy activity; like Game Show Day, Paint & Snack, News Report Day, or even a themed escape room; that keeps readers excited and engaged. On the final day, the group celebrates by watching the movie adaptation of the book and completing a fun craft that compares book to film. Led by certified teachers with degrees in education, Chapter Chasers helps children grow in fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and confidence, showing them that great readers become strong leaders.

Mixed Age Class
Sunday Storytime is a warm, mixed-age class designed to build a love of reading and strengthen family connections. Siblings are welcome as children and caregivers come together to share stories, songs, and playful activities that engage every age group. Each session features an interactive read-aloud paired with fun, hands-on activities; like movement, music, art, or building, that bring books to life in ways everyone can enjoy. Led by certified teachers with degrees in education, Family Storytime makes reading a joyful, shared experience, showing children that books are for learning, laughing, and connecting with the people they love most.
BRAINPOWER HOUR
Ages 6+
Homework Hub is a supportive after-school program that helps kids stay on top of their schoolwork while building a love of reading. Led by a certified teacher with a degree in education, students receive guidance and encouragement as they complete homework or prepare for upcoming tests. Once schoolwork is done, the focus shifts to fun: children gather for a lively read-aloud and peer activities that spark discussion, creativity, and connection. Homework Hub not only helps students feel confident and prepared but also ensures they end the day engaged, supported, and excited about learning.
STORY EXPLORERS + Hogwarts CAMP
Ages 4+
Storybook Explorers & Hogwarts Camp are our favorite way to wrap up summer. Held intentionally in August, these small-group camps let kids dive into stories, imagination, and themed adventures while gently easing back into routines. Campers explore magical worlds, tackle creative challenges, and build confidence with friends, all while building reading momentum that makes the start of school feel exciting instead of overwhelming. Kids leave feeling proud, prepared, and excited to return to school.
BIRTHDAY PARTIES
All Ages
Book Club Birthday Parties put kids in charge of the celebration. The birthday child chooses their favorite modality, whether it’s art, science, building, music, cooking, yoga, Spanish, or theatre, and the party is designed around the books and themes they love most. Led by our teachers, parties blend hands-on fun with shared stories, creativity, and connection in a warm, welcoming space. It’s a stress-free celebration for families and a birthday experience that feels thoughtful, playful, and truly one of a kind.

Story + Play Studio is a relaxed, family-style experience designed to help children and caregivers connect through books and play. Each week, exploration stations are thoughtfully connected to the featured modality, giving families new ways to engage with stories through art, building, movement, music, science, and more. With gentle literacy woven throughout, open play encourages conversation, curiosity, and a lasting love of reading in a joyful, low-pressure setting.
